Hoku Smiles team of pediatric dentists, general dentists and staff.

Hoku Smiles' East Kauai clinic, Baird Dental, has been serving Kauai families since 1982 in the Old Wailua Clubhouse building.  Since our inception, we have strived to keep abreast with the latest dental research and techniques.  We are a family run practice located in the heart of Kapaa and Hanapepe.

MARK A. BAIRD DDS

GENERAL DENTIST

Dr. Baird is the founder of Baird Dental.  Originally from California, Dr. Baird has spent more of his life in Hawaii than anywhere else.  His surfing expeditions brought him to Kauai in the early 1980’s.  He is a graduate of USC dental school and has been associated with many dental organizations over his tenure.  He was a past president of the State of Hawaii Dental Board and currently serves as a grader for The Commission on  Dental Competency Assessments (CDCA).  He has been a member of the Kapaa Rotary club for more than 20 years and was a seasoned paddler, crossing the Molokai channel more times than he can count.  He loves being on Kauai and enjoys long conversations with friends in the office.  Most weekends you’ll find him scaling the hillside of his property pulling weeds.

KANOE BAIRD DMD

PEDIACTRIC DENTIST

Dr. Kanoe was born and raised on the island of Kauai. She graduated from Kamehameha High School and furthered her career at UH-Manoa with her degree in Dental Hygiene. Dr. Kanoe then went on to obtain her Degree in Dental Medicine (DMD) and Masters in Public Health (MPH) at the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health.  She continued her education in pediatric dentistry at NYU-Langone Hospitals in Honolulu.  She is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Kanoe enjoys yoga, traveling, and a nice cup of coffee on a Sunday morning watching football.

Patricia Sanchez DDS

Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Patricia Sanchez is originally from Venezuela, where she received her dental degree from the University of the Andes in 2005. She earned her pediatric specialty degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine and is Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.Dr. Sanchez is a bilingual dentist with an exceptional ability to connect with children of all ages and cultures. She particularly enjoys motivating and educating the whole family, helping them make the best decisions to keep good oral health for a lifetime.Dr. Sanchez and her family have called Kauai their home for 3 years, they enjoy being at the beach, traveling, dancing and hiking.
